1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV) “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
Paul begins with a wake‑up question: “Do you not know…?” He reminds believers that their bodies are temples — sacred places where the Holy Spirit dwells.
In the Old Testament, God’s presence rested in the Ark of the Covenant. Today, under the new covenant, His presence rests within us. Our bodies belong to God, not for worldly desires.
Paul continues: “You were bought at a price.” Jesus willingly laid down His life to redeem humanity from the sin introduced in Genesis 3. We could never repay that debt. Because of Christ’s finished work, we are no longer slaves to sin — remember we belong to God.
Paul’s instruction: “Honor God with your bodies.” The Corinthians struggled with obedience, especially sexual immorality, which defiles the body — the very place where the Holy Spirit dwells.
This is where God creation fights back. The world says your body is yours, but Scripture says the opposite. Sex outside of marriage is sin. It grieves God. It separates us from intimacy with Christ.
When we live ungodly lives, we dishonor the One who lives within us. Many people don’t know the lie the world tells concerning fornication, or they ignore it because of self‑gratification. Don’t let the traditions of the world’s experiences become your teacher. Our lives must reflect the transformation the Holy Spirit produces, shaping us into the likeness of Christ.
“Oh, how wise and beneficial it would be to stop grieving the Holy Spirit.”

· In what ways am I honoring God with my body, knowing I was bought at a price?
The Understanding of Worship
Now we have a full understanding that the body is a temple for the Lord, and if we abuse the gift of free will and act outside of His commands, we “miss the mark”; we sin. This brings us to our next topic: humanity’s lifestyle should be that of worship unto the Creator.
Romans 12:1 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
A believer should surrender their life to God — remember it is not theirs to begin with. Nevertheless, humanity refuses to relinquish their will and their heart to God and would rather fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Worship should be a daily part of life. Our thoughts, speech, and behavior must be given to the Lord with a pure heart in obedience. Each day, with gratitude, we thank Him for the mercy we receive.
A lifestyle that prioritizes worship is a life the Holy Spirit can work through.
“The Holy Spirit is the one who enables Christians to worship God; we can’t do it on our own.” The Spirit produces the desire to worship — He stirs the hearts of men and women globally.
Ephesians 2:18“Through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”
Glory be to God — through Jesus, believers have full access to the Father without intermediaries. We are bonded through the Spirit by God’s grace. The church operates under one Spirit: the Spirit of God Almighty.
With worship established as the standard of our lives, we now move toward the doorway — the narrow path Christ calls us to walk

· Am I currently living in a way that reflects true worship, relating to 1 Corinthians 6:19–20?

The Narrow Doorway
Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV) The Narrow and Wide Gates. Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Choice is inevitable. I will take it a step further: our decisions play a major role in a believer’s relationship with Christ. Countless individuals remain in the “shadow,” placing no value on the destination of their spirit after earthly life — when their soul leaves the body.
We receive God’s mercy daily, allowing us to live a righteous life before the Lord. Everyone is faced with difficult situations, and I tell you the truth — it’s how you respond: godly or worldly, truth or lie, integrity or theft.
In today’s culture, what motivates a person’s heart — to please God or self‑pleasure? Challenges can lead to growth in faith, or to a life marked by unrepentant sin.
That is why the Holy Spirit is needed — to help us with the obstacles we face. The gift of discernment is available through the Holy Spirit.
The reality is this: we must choose which gate we are going through. If someone is separated from God, it is not His fault. We must be committed to listening to the Holy Spirit.
Self‑indulgence requires no effort; Holy Scripture warns us about living outside of God’s will. Repentance is required daily before the Lord.
“Live most of your time in the spiritual realm so the earthly realm does not consume you.”

· Am I choosing the narrow gate daily, or am I drifting toward the broad road that leads to destruction?
Test the Spirit, as one may be an Unclean spirit
Some people stand before crowds claiming to preach God’s Word, yet their motives are rooted in intentional deception—seeking glory for themselves and deliberately leading people away from the true faith. They thoughtfully twist God’s Word, using the appearance of ministry to disguise their lies. Beware.
1 John 4:1 (NKJV) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Holy Scripture must be a believer’s first line of defense against false teachers. Don’t be distracted by the title they claim. Are they proclaiming that Jesus is Lord? Pray for discernment — the Holy Spirit gives freely.
2 Corinthians 11:14 (NKJV) And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
The adversary — the accuser — is also the impersonator. The deceiver, the liar, wants you to trade your faith for a lie. Do not drift from the protection of the Maker of all. The Holy Spirit is available to help you remember truth; He can bless you with the gift of discernment.
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
God’s Word is alive with power to uncover untruth and expose deception. Understand this truth: not every voice in your head is from God. When in doubt, verify it through the Word of God — and recall, the Holy Spirit is our Helper.
In these three Scriptures, anchor your mind and heart in the Word of God lest you be deceived. Stand firm in your faith and leave no room for compromise. Read, study, and meditate on the Word of God — and test every word someone speaks.

The Work of The Holy Spirit
John 16:7-15 (NKJV) Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He [a]will take of Mine and declare it to you.
Jesus was helping His disciples understand that His physical presence was required for a season to fulfill a divine mission — the mission the Father sent Him to complete on the cross. But the Holy Spirit, with unlimited power, would be present everywhere at once, omnipresent, dwelling in believers and speaking to their hearts simultaneously.
I love how the Holy Spirit magnifies the name above all names: Jesus Christ. There is no ulterior motive in our relationship with Him — He is the One who guides us into all truth in a broken world. Only the Spirit of God can empower believers to speak boldly about the Good News.
Examine John 16:8 and notice how the Holy Spirit operates with precision in His threefold ministry: sin, righteousness, and judgment. He specializes in working with the human heart — a heart that is wicked, evil, and naturally drawn to sin. Sadly, the world would rather fall under the influence of godless behaviors than yield to the Holy Spirit, who transforms believers into the likeness of Christ. Judgment is approaching as we live in the last days, and we must lean in and listen attentively to the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is here to help in multiple ways, and anyone who desires to be with God for all eternity must turn down the noise of the world, crucify the flesh, and focus on hearing the Spirit of truth. He gives understanding of Scripture and helps us in prayer. As believers, we must obey His instruction — heaven should be our priority.
The Work of The Holy Spirit
· He, the Spirit of truth
· He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment
· He will guide you into all truth
· He will tell you things to come
· He will glorify Me – Jesus
· He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you
May we never ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit, for He is the One who keeps us anchored in truth, aligned with Christ, and prepares believers for the day we stand before God.

· Am I allowing the Holy Spirit to transform me into the likeness of Christ, or have I settled into a lifestyle that ignores what God requires of me?
How to Hear the Holy Spirit and How We Should Respond
Hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit is essential for every believer. Many never experience the presence of the Creator because they are not walking daily with the Spirit of God. I will tell you the truth: you must surrender your heart before the Maker. The Spirit’s voice is unlike any other — always in harmony with God’s Word. The Spirit of truth speaks with power, yet in a divine whispers. Also, He will not compete with the noise of the world.
Positioning Your Heart to Hear Him
When morning comes, and your mind is clear, acknowledge God in prayer and thank Him for His mercy and grace. Then block every distraction and position your heart to welcome the presence of the Holy Spirit. Be intentional with your words — you are designed to come boldly before the throne with your requests. If a person desires to be led by the Spirit, they must be able to hear Him. A receptive heart that seeks God and walks in obedience will hear the Spirit who dwells within.
The Spirit speaks through the Word of God. This is how you distinguish your thoughts: line them up against Scripture. Do your decisions appear holy before God? If not, they come from the world or your own desires. I warn you: do not let culture become your teacher.
1 John 2:27 (NKJV) But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you [a]will abide in Him.
Examine 1 John 2:27. The Spirit of God abides within every believer, teaching us truth and guarding us from deception. The anointing we received is not silent — it instructs, convicts, and leads us into the will of God. If we wish for discernment and direction, we must remain sensitive to His voice and anchored in His Word. We can do nothing on our own; thank God for His grace.
STEPS TO HEAR THE HOLY SPIRIT
• Saturate Your Mind and Heart in Scripture
The Spirit speaks through the Word, so your hearing depends on your intake.
• Yield Your Will
A surrendered heart hears God clearly because it resists nothing He says.
• Seek Peace
The Spirit often leads through peace, and His peace never contradicts truth.
• Notice and Accept the No’s
A closed door is still guidance — honor the Spirit’s ‘no.’
• Pursue Holiness
Holiness sharpens spiritual hearing because sin always distorts the signal.
• Turn Off the Noise
The Spirit whispers; the world screams — silence the world to hear Him.
• Don’t Put Yourself in a Position to Sin
Compromise dulls discernment, but transparency keeps your heart sensitive to God.
• Learn from the Conviction
Conviction requires immediate obedience and repentance; delayed obedience is disobedience.
May we become a people who hear the Holy Spirit clearly, obey Him quickly, and walk in truth boldly.
