Letter from the Heart #5: If You did not Know

 If You Did Not Know

I’ve heard it said: what you don’t know can hurt you — and even bring pain to your doorstep. Likewise, the Word of God declares, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” What is it about knowledge that can save your life — physically and spiritually? And why do so many run from it?

Could it be that those who possess truth are also held accountable for it? What about the spiritual liability that comes with knowing and rejecting God’s Word?

Two of the most powerful forces shaping the heart and mind today are culture and social media.

Culture plays a major role in shaping what people believe, what they value, and how they behave. What’s fascinating is how global interaction has brought together countless cultures — blending beliefs, values, and behaviors. Over time, these interactions reshape how people think and live.

Social media, on the other hand, floods society with information across countless platforms. But with that power comes danger — it can easily control the narrative. Information travels at the speed of light, and words and images can stimulate the mind in ways that desensitize the soul. What was once a deal-breaker is now tolerated. What was once shameful is now celebrated.

Together, culture and social media have a way of making people compromise — slowly, subtly, and dangerously.

I raise the question — how does the Word of God compete with today’s “big players”? In our culture, sex still holds a stronghold, just as it did in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.

If you did not know — fornication is sexual intercourse between a man and a woman who are not married to each other. So yes, dating and having sex is sin. Culture sees nothing wrong with it — and why would it, if Satan controls the narrative?

Please understand: God, the Creator, has a problem with the sexually immoral among His creation. We are called to honor our bodies as living sacrifices — holy and pleasing to God. But if you let culture and social media shape your thinking, they will blind you, misinform you, and lead you to abuse the blessing of free will.

Did you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within you?

You’ve been lied to long enough. Now you know.

Hosea 4:6 (NIV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

1 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV) Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

James 1:14-15 (NIV) but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
